Happy Friday Y’all!

What a beautiful time of year this is! We get crisp mornings, beautiful sunsets, and a myriad of stark reminders about the glory and majesty of our God. We also have Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up... My favorite time of the year! My favorite because there is a focus community wide on being thankful without knowing what they are thankful for. That’s where you and I get to step in as the body Christ and share the “good news” that God has entered our world to save us from sin and death in the person of Jesus Christ, and that is the greatest thing ever to be thankful for!

Just a couple of things to note that are going on here at MLAC:

  • The office will be closed Monday, November 12 in honor of Veteran’s Day.
  • Senior Adult luncheon is this coming Tuesday, November 13 @ 11:30am in the gym.
  • On Sunday, November 18, there will be a special offering, above and beyond your regular gift, to the Great Commission Fund to help send new Alliance workers. This year, 60 new positions have opened for Christ-centered men and women to be sent to some of the least-reached corners of our world. Our gifts to this offering will help get them there. Please pray about and consider supporting the 2018 Alliance Year-End Offering.
  • Our Christmas program “Built” is happening Saturday, December 1 @ 3pm and 6pm and Sunday, December 2 @ 6pm.

Besides the above listed events there are numerous things the Lord is doing in and through our church body that I would ask you to pray for. Please be praying for our Growth Groups and Equipping Course as this trimester comes to an end and we break for December. The same goes for our children’s and youth ministry. Continue praying for our leadership as we really push for ways to make disciples that make disciples and continue to invest in future leaders as we raise up new elders, deacons, deaconesses, and ministry leaders. And of course, continue to pray that Gospel would go forth in power during this pivotal time of the year, and year-round as well! You are deeply loved by Jesus and prayed for often!

Happy Friday MLAC Family!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s already time to set those clocks back. That means dark is upon us around 4pm in the afternoon. The days will be getting shorter and the dark of nights longer... just like what seems to be going on around us. However, we serve a God who is always completely in control and the ruler of all things, even the night! What a blessing it is to know that our God entered the darkness in the person of Jesus Christ, whose birth we will be celebrating in about 7 short weeks. In about 4 weeks we will celebrate that blessed event through our Christmas program called “Built”. Put it on your calendars for Saturday, December 1 at 3pm and 6pm and for Sunday, December 2 at 6pm only.

On Monday, November 5 @ 6:30pm we will be having a prayer meeting right here at MLAC in our sanctuary in preparation for the upcoming elections. We are praying that those who love Jesus will get into office and that His will be done through whatever official gets elected.

Here are just a few other things to note around here...

  • We are going to be having a warm clothing drive donation collection starting this Sunday for local students here in the Columbia Basin so if you have warm clothes to donate please get those prepared.
  • Our end of year offering for the Great Commission Fund is November 18.
  • Just a reminder that you can give to our Benevolent Fund anytime of the year, but now is an especially good time with the number of people that are hurting and in need around the holidays.
  • You will notice a table in the foyer on Sunday with markers and name tags on it because it’s Name Tag November. Let’s make it easy for each other to learn and remember our names by wearing a name tag each Sunday this month!

Well, I want to throw out one last thing... GOD IS SO GOOD! He has been doing amazing things in and through you, church family, and I am excited to see how He works with upcoming holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas!

In His Grip,

Pastor Dave Dechape

OCTOBER 26, 2018

Church family,

It’s Friday, again!

It’s funny how quickly Friday rolls around each week. Speaking of which, did you realize we’re one week away from November?! 😯 I’m reminded of Paul’s words in Ephesians 5:

15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

It’s easy to let unimportant, and even evil things, fill our days as we go week to week, but wisdom is making the most of every opportunity. It’s being intentional with each day God gives us. It’s understanding his plans and seeking to be part of them, all the while having an attitude of gratitude toward God. As with everything in the Christian walk, this doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a life long pursuit of Jesus as we strive to be more like him in these areas. May God grant you His Spirit to empower you to do just that.

Here are a couple things going on in the life of MLAC:

  • Harvest Party – TONIGHT @ 5:30 pm. This free event offers families a safe place for kids to play fun games and earn candy. Hotdog dinner is also offered to all visitors. Please consider bringing candy or cookies with you to donate for the party. We’re also collecting canned food for the food bank!
  • Wednesday Night Activities are continuing as normal on October 31, Halloween night.
  • Daylight Savings Time is approaching. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back next Sunday, November 4!!

God bless,

Pastor Tyler Ellis

OCTOBER 19, 2018

Happy Friday Church Family,

What a blessing it is to know that we have such a great God and Savior as the Lord Jesus Christ. The author of Hebrews tells us that we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses but that He Himself was tempted in every way and yet was found to be without sin. As some of you walk through dark valleys always cling to the promise that Jesus walks through that valley with you and that He has already overcome whatever it is you are facing.

Speaking of dark, the holiday of Halloween is upon us and is often a time of celebrating death and darkness. While that sounds dismal it is actually a great time to share the goodness of the Author of life and light. One of the ways we get to do that as a church body and invite the Moses Lake community in as well is through our upcoming “Harvest Party” on October 26th, here at Moses Lake Alliance Church. That will be at 5:30pm and will be a great time of celebrating the goodness of Jesus to us while also overloading ourselves on sugar and then burning it off playing some crazy games! J

We also have some baptisms coming up this Sunday, October 21 at the 10am service. Please be praying for those who are publicly declaring their trust in Jesus through baptism.

This is a fabulous season for sharing Jesus. We get to bring the light of Jesus during the often-dark overtones of Halloween, we get to share our overflowing praise to Jesus for what He has done this Thanksgiving in a world that never seems to have enough, and we get to celebrate God coming to earth as we rejoice at Christmas time. Let’s go give ‘em Jesus!

OCTOBER 12, 2018

Happy Friday Church Family,

Anytime is a great time for sharing the Gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. But this time of year is especially pertinent. Halloween is on our heels and that is a day that revolves around the supernatural, usually in a pretty ghoulish and demonic way. But it opens the door for sharing the truth of the One who came to bring us life and set us free from anything fearful, evil, or demonic. Who do you know that you could reach out to this Halloween season that needs Jesus? Let’s be praying for specific ways to reach them.

Some of the things going on here at MLAC that could aid you in sharing the Gospel include...

  • The Sunday morning “Gospel Foundations” sermons.
  • The African Children’s Choir that is coming Friday, October 19 @ 7pm.
  • The Harvest Party here at MLAC starting at 5:30pm. (By the way, we need lots of candy and cookies for this event. Should you want to contribute to that we have bins in the foyer where you can drop that off.)

We would also like to throw out a HUGE“thank you” to all that served at our annual Car Care Day. Almost 100 cars were serviced and hundreds of individuals were blessed with snacks, produce to take home, and most importantly many had the opportunity to hear the Gospel and be prayed for.

One last thing, please be praying for our Junior High students as about 25 of them are headed to Olympia, Washington for their retreat called “Quest” where they will have a chance to grow in their walk with Jesus and be more equipped to share Him on their school campuses.

In His Grip,

Pastor Dave

OCTOBER 5, 2018

It’s Friday again and I have been assigned to do the Friday e-mail until I can do it without making mistakes, so I may be doing this well into the new year, bear with me. Even as I write this, I hear the banging and clanging of hammers and staplers on the roof. I expect the sanctuary will be completed by tomorrow, and the rest will be finished next week. I will take great comfort in knowing that our roof is guaranteed for the next 30 years. Before we dive into the less exciting, but very important announcements; I want to ask you to stop and consider a quote I heard from Ravi Zacharias this week:

The problem with Christianity is not that it was tested and found wanting, but rather that it was found difficult and never tested.”

My first thought was of those who have not accepted Christ, but then I thought about how often I struggle with the decision to follow Jesus’ example, or my own selfish nature (Answer: many times a day). On the one hand we have God’s Word and the Holy Spirit to guide us through every decision we make; then on the other hand there is our sin nature, the world and the Enemy and these are completely at odds with God’s plan for us. Faith is knowing that no matter how difficult God’s path seems, it is always better than any other. I shudder to think how many times I have turned away from God’s path because it seemed too difficult, or it did not make sense to me. The fact is, it does not need to make sense to me. If I trust God and truly submit every decision to His authority, I cannot go wrong. In this way I can honor and glorify God. Join me in praying that each of us would have the faith to put our feelings and our wisdom aside and trust God more and more each day…………………………...Amen.

A few exciting things coming up;

  •      The annual Business meeting will be this Sunday Oct. 7that 11:15am. Every member of our church has made a commitment to do their part in the governance of the body, so please plan to attend.
  •      Car Care day is on Sat. Oct 6th. This is a great time to have the entire church here to Love on Moses Lake. There is something for every single person to do in our efforts to show the Love of Jesus to our community. Please be here no later than 8:30am to pray over the day and set up.
  •      Tyler Tadema has arranged a special treat; on Friday Oct. 19 at 7pm we will have a concert by the African children’s choir. This is a great opportunity to invite a guest to come to MLAC. Don’t deny your friends and neighbors the chance to encounter Jesus.

In Christ,

Pastor Dave Watson

SEPTEMBER 28, 2018
Happy Friday and Welcome to Fall. Just a few days ago we officially transitioned out of summer. For me that is great; I love winter and snow. If the thought of impending cold makes you a little blue, here is my top ten list of church bulletin bloopers to cheer you up:
A Merry Heart Doeth Good Like A Medicine
Proverbs 17:22
10. For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery down stairs.

9. Scouts are saving aluminum cans, bottles, and other items to be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children.

8. Low Self-Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7 to 8:30 p.m. Please use the back door.

7. During the absence of our pastor, we enjoyed the rare privilege of hearing a good sermon when J.F. Stubbs supplied our pulpit.

6. Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our church and community.

 5. Tuesday at 4:00 PM there will be an ice cream social. All ladies giving milk will please come early.

4. Eight new choir robes are currently needed, due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.

 3. At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be "What is hell?" Come early and listen to our choir practice.

 2. This being Easter Sunday, we will ask Mrs. Lewis to come forward and lay an egg on the altar.

1.   Weight Watchers will meet at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. Please use large double door at the side entrance.

My personal favorite…

Don’t let worry kill you off - let the church help!

A few exciting things coming up;

Tina and I thank God every day for our church home and all the people here that make this a place where God is Honored, Loved and Worshiped.

In Christ,

Pastor Dave Watson

SEPTEMBER 21, 2018

MLAC Family,

While there is nothing new under the sun this is still a very exciting time of year for our church. The Fall presents so many opportunities for reaching people with the Gospel message of Jesus now that people are back from vacations and headed back to school. There are a few ways coming up that you can be a part of spreading the good news of Jesus in our community and serving His people here at Moses Lake Alliance Church. Here are a couple of the things that are coming up...Our students will be gathering around flag poles at their local schools to pray for our country, our community, and their schools on Wednesday, September 26 before school.

  • Car Care Day on Saturday, October 6 from 10am-1pm. This is a great way to practically show people the love of Jesus through servicing their cars and then using that open door to tell them about Jesus.
  • We need volunteers to help serve at our Senior Adult luncheons every second Tuesday of the month at 11:30am.
  • You can also share the blessings you have received from the Lord by donating to the backpack buddies program which we will have tubs in the foyer for starting this Sunday. For more info on what is needed please email or see Pastor Tyler Ellis.

One last thing, don’t forget to put on your calendar that our annual meeting will be on Sunday, October 7 @ 11:15am. This will be a great time of celebrating what God has done in our midst over the past year, what He’s doing now, and what we are excited about seeing Him do in the upcoming year.

I am so blessed to be here at Moses Lake Alliance Church with you all and look forward with eager anticipation each day to what the Lord is going to do with us as a church body!

Pastor Dave

SEPTEMBER 14, 2018

MLAC Family,

This week was the 17-year anniversary of 9-11 and what a reminder it is each year of the uncertainty and brevity of life. With that reminder emblazoned in our brains let us never forget that every individual we meet is not just a physical being but an eternal soul. Let’s make this week one where we each pray for God to use us for His eternal purposes and not let a moment pass where we aren’t open to His leading.

Speaking of His leading... He may be leading you to be at our congregational meeting this Sunday right after church at 11:15am. We will discuss how the roof and parking lot that He has blessed us with will be repaired. And He also may be leading you to be at our annual meeting that will be on Sunday, October 7 @ 11:15am! J

Another big event that we have coming up as a church body that I am praying you will be a part of is our annual Car Care Day on Saturday, October 6 from 10am-1pm. This is a great opportunity to love on Moses Lake through serving them, but an even greater opportunity to share the life changing message of the Gospel. Sign-ups for volunteering that day begin this Sunday, September 16 in the foyer. We need everything from oil changers, to coffee bar helpers, to general set up and clean up, and more.

I am looking forward to seeing and hearing how our great God is going to use His church for His glory and the spreading of His name! And I have a secret for you... He wants to use you to do it! What a privilege it is to be loved by and used by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

Pastor Dave Dechape

MLAC Church Family,

The Fall Kickoff this past Sunday and throughout the week has already been such a blessing. We launched our new series in church “Gospel Foundations”, have kicked off the new Sunday School year, and had a great Wednesday night kickoff. Praise Jesus!

We also have a whole slew of other things coming up as well. Let me share with you just a few that you can be a part of and praying for...

  • All Church Picnic and Baptisms - Sunday, September 9 @ 3pm at the Garcia’s house: 10401 Rd H NE. Maps are available at the church. Hamburgers, hotdogs, & chicken kabobs, as well as cold drinks will be provided. Please bring a potluck item (salad, side dish, dessert) to share. We will have baptisms in the pool first, then eat and make merry.
  •      Sept 16Officially called Congregational Business meeting, 11:15 a.m. All are invited.Members, please plan to attend. There is an information sheet available at the Connections Center that explains the details of the meeting.
  •      Women’s Retreat – September 21-23 (Sign-ups in the foyer until 9/16)
  •      MLAC Car Care Day – Saturday, October 6 (10am – 1pm)
  •      MLAC Annual Meeting – Sunday, October 7 (11:15am)

As you can see this is a busy and blessed season for us at MLAC. This is a time when many are coming back from vacations and trying to wrap their minds around the craziness. What a great time to introduce to the Prince of Peace and the One who brings order and purpose out of chaos. Please continue to pray for and reach out to those individuals that God has put in your path for a reason so that you may introduce them to Jesus and invite them to MLAC.

This church family is such a blessing and I am thrilled to be a part of what God is doing here, I hope you are too!
